Thanks for posting the link to the tuning book. One of the chapters
discusses the similarities of the six-cylinder Triumph engines. It is
stated that a 1.6l six-cylinder Vitesse engine is virtually the same weight
as the 2.5l, which weighs about 460 lbs. Given that the 289 (4.7l) Ford
also weighs about 460 lbs., the 1.6l Triumph engine is as heavy as the 4.7l
Ford! No wonder Ford was highly touting their new lightweight casting
technique when they introduced the initially 221 cubic inch (3.6l) small
block in the early sixties.
