- The tuned header which i have the pattern for is the race header that was use on the U20 engines.. the tube size should be 1 3/4 inches for a race engine.... but it must be remembered that you don't

- yes the wood knob is after market , not listed in the parts book , and i had bought a new one many years ago from an auto parts store.. they are now out of production .. early 67 on back had a round

- the main problem with milling the haed 100 th. is that the pistons hit the head , if someone has put flat tops in the 1600 then you have no problem , unless the deck will not hold , call me for more

- the u20 has more power so you can beat on it that much more. it bottom end is stronger biult, but has a much longer stroke so there is more stress on it. the double chains work fine if you are willin

- For street use the U20 is fine , I beat the hell of the motor and it holds up ...yes things go wrong , once I bought a fancy shift knob , was behind this 914 , came to a strait away , went to dumb it

- the reason for the idle increase when you are stopped in trafic is the accreactor cable jacket grows in length when it heats up, to solve this leave about 3/16 " slack in the accelorator cable . Mike
