I am like Allen, using the MGB type "back plate". I use a 2" K&N filter on=
the rim, easy hose clamp-style on and off as needed. The back plate can b=
e drilled to use an Allen head screw to attach so the surface is smooth. Th=
is was described on the MGB experience several years back by the Acme Speed=
