Although I drive a Camaro, I would recommend a 63 to 65 Corvette. It seems like
you can still find one, with history, reasonably priced (at least when compared
to a 911), they have an engine and transmission that are plentiful and
relatively cheap, and if they are anything like my car, they are a blast to
drive.

Parts are easy to find and often available new or reproduced.

As an added bonus, I think that you can race an early small block Corvette with
any race organization.
