In Europe the Historiche Formel Vau series caters for historic Vees and
Super Vees (running in pre-75 format without wings). Don't know if they
have any problems fromorganisers, but being organised by Germans will
probably help (the cars are VW after all). I have run with them when
they formed a grid (together with the Formula Ford pre-71 guys) at the
Nurburgring Old Timer festival. This is the biggest and oldest historic
event in Europe and attracts race day crowds of 90,000 plus. I guess
you could call this acceptance.
As regards running with the Fords - naturally most of them moaned and
whined about the problems of driving around the slow Vees. Personally I
had no problem in my 125hp Super Vee, so maybe this is a matter of
driver attitude rather than speed differential.
The other series in Germany, the German Open, has stated that Vees will
never form part of their races - due to peoples "funny attitude to
them".
Within the contemporary UK FVee series, a trophy is offered for the best
pre-75 (I think) car. But this is not really historic racing.
