NO. Blocking the bypass is a Bad Thing, as we've discussed. Using a
sleeved thermostat is optional, IMO, I ran one just long enough to find out
that it made no detectable difference on my car. The factory apparently
felt the same way, since they later approved using a non-sleeved thermostat.

Eh. I run a 7 psi cap, just to get a little more margin before boilover.

That I will definitely agree with. Although I've no idea how common it is,
my original radiator turned out to have lousy thermal efficiency, even
though it wasn't clogged and didn't leak. Apparently the tubes were no
longer in good contact with the fins.
