Using a
sleeved thermostat is optional, IMO, I ran one just long enough to find out
that it made no detectable difference on my car.
Randal, my TR3, owned since 64, with ca 300,000 miles on it , will run fine
without a sleeved thermostat for a long time-maybe an hour or so . But on a
long drive, say from LA to SF, the temp gauge will very slowly creep up. This
I have read is caused by that small percentage water which continually bypa
sses the radiator and goes back into the head. The sleeved tstat solved that
problem for me,
