Hi Martin
I have been servicing the big Triumph saloons for around 18 years or more, I
have always used this point to jack, I have never experienced any problems
with the diff, these are really strong units, the only failure in the family
fleet was due to hitting a French "level" crossing with about 5" steps at
the rails at around forty miles an hour whilst towing a caravan, it
fractured the casing but it held together for another 150 miles, took us to
within 22 kilometres of the ferry at Calais, fortunately we were on our way
home from holiday at the time of the failure. the best bit is the final
straw was a change in road surface from old smooth blacktop to newly chipped
surface, about a 1/4" or so step.

Graham.
