I don't want to satrt a big disscusion on this but here in the
UK
Castrol run a big ad campaign on their GTX Magnatec oil.
Its claim to fame is that it reduces wear on start up which is where a high
proportion of all wear takes place particularly on highly loaded areas like
cam lobes.
I have used Castrol oils for many years and found thier technical help
line to be useful and unbiased. They recommended me to use this type
of oil in Spit and TR engines AFTER RUNNING IN with a running in oil.
IMHO it makes good sense to use an oil of this type in engines that are
not used regularly and start up oil feed to all areas may be slow.
