   `know what you mean... My Dad was the carpenter in the family...

    I consider myself lucky to work for a hospital. It seems they are
    constantly state of change as to where X department is located.
    Consequently they have to make new shelves and cabinets and
    trash the old stuff. Over the years I've managed to collect
    various items (e.g. cabinets, warehouse shelving and even
    lighting (got some nice flourescent boxes that I use in my shop).

    You might see if there's a business that specializes in used
    store or office equipment like shelving in your area. Keep an
    eye on the going out of "business signs" in your town.

    One of the niftiest items I've acquired over the years is a
    bedside table from the hospital. I removed the dinky little
    tabletop that came with it and bolted on an old drawing board I
    had laying around I use it to hold tools and parts when I'm
    working over the engine.
