You could put any of the stroker kits into the 260 and get into the
330 cu in range, but your limited by the 260 bore size. Any other part that
fits a 289 or 302 will work. The real question is how much are you willing
to pay; by the time you build up the 260 you could probably purchase a long
block ready to go.
If you just have to stay with the 5 bolt block put in stroker kit
and a bottom end girdle. The 4 bbl heads from a 289 or 302 flow better
than the 260 heads and if you want heads that flow more convert to 351 heads
but this will cost more and may require new pistons, you would need to
investigate that conversion a lot more.

Subject: Converting a 260 to a 302
Could someone briefly outline the steps necessary to change the 260 to a
302?
Is it worth it or should I just get a different engine altogether? Isn't the
block the same (or are the later versions of the block better)?
If it is just the idea that it needs to be rebuilt with 302 heads,
performance cam and some other items, wouldn't it be pretty painless?
Hard to believe that the HP boost is so dramatic.
Thanks,
JH
