Hi Jamie,
That will certainly de-arch the spring and give some negative camber, ie the
tops of the wheels tilted inwards. The downside is that the contact between
spring leaves is going to be made at the tips, rather than evenly along the
length of the leaves. This will wear quickly and potentially bind where a
step is formed.
It's a well known modification, but not a good one for the long term.
One other thing which comes to mind, the modification will work on Spitfire
Mk1-3 with the fixed spring, I assume it is one of these which you own. If
you have a MkIV or 1500 with the swing spring then this mod isn't possible
because of the different spring construction.
