Whay a Spit, Humm. Like most things in life it was a combination of
seemingly unrelated events........culminating in ownership. I have owned
British sports cars since Uhmm...'67 (58 MGA). Favorite (to date)-----'69
Sprite-in '89 (but the Spit is not done yet). Why a Spit. Well, there was
an ad in the paper, and the price was right...better go look. But then there
were those two girls that were gorgeous, driving one way back in '66, I
couldn't catch them on tight neighborhood streets in the '64 Impala SS. I
guess that was in the back of my mind. The lines are good.. Long hoodline,
short rump, that has always given the impression of power and speed (the
impression). The EType had similar lines. Anyway..Ramble on. I got it 'cuz
I love to fiddle with LBC's and most of all I COULDN'T AFFORD A LOTUS SEVEN!
But, wouldn't you know it, Those Unrelated Events strike again. Of course
the Lotus Seven used Tons of Triumph parts (spindles, uprights, rack,
etc, etc.) Well with two parts cars found cheap during the work on the Spit,
and after the purchase last weekend of a TR7 live axle------------I got all
the pieces I need to build my Lotus from scratch--Several great CAD prints of
Lotus chassis and suspension arms. Well the Spit will be my fun little daily
driver, and by the end of the summer I will start the Lotus. I love the
Spit.. I think I will keep it from now on why sell it?...Why did I get it, I
needed a car, my daughter took the Miata.
