That makes sense. Here on the edge of San Francisco Bay, the =
temperatures are generally quite moderate. Even during this recent heat =
wave, they only reached 90=C2=BA for a couple of days.

As for losing grip, I have noticed that phenomenon in other cases, but =
I=E2=80=99m not really aware of it on this set, yet. My previous tires =
were summer high performance tires with insane grip (but which became =
dangerously slick if they even splashed through a puddle). These are =
all-season M+S tires, so it=E2=80=99s not like they theoretically had a =
lot of grip to start with, but I really can=E2=80=99t recall ever =
spinning a tire or skidding under any circumstances other than crossing =
a painted stripe in the rain.

I recently replaced the 12-year-old Pirellis on my wife=E2=80=99s Echo, =
and they had noticeably lost grip, to the point that you could spin a =
front tire just pulling away from a stop (actually, this is not that =
surprising since the 1.5 has more torque than the MGB motor and the =
5-speed has a ridiculously low first gear ratio, to which you add =
typical FWD torque steer). They also had obvious cracking on the =
sidewalls. They still had tread because her commute over their lifespan =
had only been a 2-mile round trip.

Tires used as little as Max=E2=80=99s have been would, it seems to me, =

FL is that the tires did not appear to age as quickly in CT. I =

the difference in cornering grip was notable.=20
