Mine is pretty much as original as I can get it but I did add in line
fuses. All the lighting comes right out of the lighting switch so an
inline fuse on the bat side of that switch is a good place to start.
One of the cheapest mods you can make.

When I was 16 and driving my MGA I was heading down a very dark highway
on a moonless night coming home from my girlfriend's house. There was
a house with a light at far end of the road. My lights suddenly
flickered and then went out. Despite immediately slowing down, I
couldn't see a thing. My wheels dropped off the side of the road and I
ran down into the ditch as I hit the brakes. Wham, I hit a culvert,
popped up onto the driveway above the culvert with a jar strong enough
to pop the head lights on!
