I used the plumbing drain (1 1/4 flanged pipe made for bathroom sinks,
drilled two holes, about an inch from the flange, and cut it to 4 inches,
then drove it into the fuel tank filler using a piece of 2 by 4 to protect
the flange from the hammer.
Works like a charm. If I ever want to remove the pipe, I should be able to
get a pin or two crosswise into the holes.
