It would also heat the tank beyond flashpoint, without wraping the area 
with heat protection, even
with rinsing tank with water, heat will release gas traped in the pores 
of the metal. you can never be to safe with a gas tank. I even scare my 
self at times.(no flames meant) (pun is intended).
