One nice thing about a decent MILLER or LINCOLN
welder, even the small weld pack 100, is they tend
to have a resell value.

For Marc, I would look into the Weldpack 100 with
gas. For $600 you get a fairly decent, if not light
duty, system. Not too bad. If you sell it, you can
still get at least $300 for it (out of $500, keep your
Argon cylinder).

For a nice 200 Amp wire welder you are up in the $1500
range. That is good for 3/8" steel plate.

I would STAY CLEAR of any machine sold by Harbor Freight,
Northern, or any "made in China" machine. They can produce
decent machines, but the ones imported are built to
maximize their profits. I have a 20 year old Hobart TIG
welder (250 Amp @ 100% duty cycle... ) that still runs
great. Paid $1400 for it, and could probably get that
for it now. ;-) Next on the list is the Miller machine...
(wire feed MIG).

P.S. For my next welder, I would love:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1674489734
(good price, and I am really tempted to buy this machine
as it has the second aluminum spool feeder tossed in as
a bonus...)
