The more recent airbags are "smarter" than the first generation units, but, hey
- they're
basically for people who are too stupid to wear seat belts. Flame on if you
like, but the
basic design criterium for airbags is a 200-pound person who is otherwise
unrestrained.
Upgrading your lap-only belts and adding a good roll bar are yoyur best bet for
increasing
the physical safety of a car like a Roadster - and ditto Laurie's comment -
defensive
driving instruction to enhance your basic driving skills (Me - I learned
defensive driving
on a motorcycle, and a small, rather slow one at that. You learn fast - or
die... ).
