The "odd" twisty is definately not even when you compare
the left and right sides. All the post to post distances are
equal except for this one.  The soft cover and tonneau have
holes in exactely the same place, and look old enough to
be the originals, so the body must have been badly drilled,
and the covers were never matched up. 
All the other grommets and posts line up so well that I
didn't suspect the top or tonneau not to be the ones that
came with the car originally.
