Pat,

Also helps to use a LITTLE dielectric grease inside the cap
near the terminals. Also a little on the end of the rotor.
The high voltage will jump right through the dielectric
grease, but it will help reduce excessive burning that 
caused the pitting.

Also this helps with radio reception.
