I heard there were two reasons why the Skyline wasn't imported to the US.

1. It would have competed directly with the 300ZX and taken away sales.
2. The configuration of the inline-6 twin-turbo engine made it impossible to
easily build a left-hand-drive version.

I can believe either one.

I really don't think that's the reason although I know some technology takes
a while to get here because of liability issues but it does get here. We'll
let the car companies test the equipment on you Europeans first, and after
they perfect it they'll send it here ;-)

Still, there's no reason why Nissan can't send their Skylines here. I'm sure
they can make the cars emissions friendly. Or why their cars look so much
better in Japan than the cars sold here. But I know that Nissan is not the
only car company to do this.

Personally, I think the powers to be at Nissan misjudge the US market and
just like to play it safe with boring looking cars. Maybe that's why Nissan
has been in trouble for so long in the US.
