I did this and found the setup is fun but I don't think you really
realize the benefit unless you can get the gearing down a bit.
I'd like to find 4.11 gears but I've also heard that using the 1600
3.90 rear and going to low profile 14 inch tires (60 series) helps
a lot. My car revs past 5500 better and is faster in roll-ons but 
I'm not sure it's faster in the 1/4 because of the off the line bog.
My carbs are Mikuni 40PHH and seem plenty large.
p.s. are you still going with the stock cam? 
I went with the Solex cam.
