The temperatures between the two heats were very different. I drove 2nd
heat (very cool) Tues-Wed and worked 5th heat (very warm). While the air
temps earlier on were cooler and probably good for horsepower, that didn't
mean a thing to the people who couldn't get heat into their tires. A few
drivers in championship hunts even in Stock and SP (i.e., non-slicks) tried
to get co-drivers the second day so they could keep their tires warm.
