You can also lengthen / shorten the steering column by cracking the set
screw with the big nut just forward of the firewall (and the clamp
thingie with the 2 1/4-28 bolts).
Me - I like the wheel to be a bit closer to me so a can get leverage when
I need it... kind of like the roundy-round drivers sitting "up on the
wheel".
But there's a lot of adjustment available to you in the steering column.
