[TR] chrome paint

chrome bits of a half century old (give or take) Triumph?  It is 
something I would imagine a kid might do with a rusty old car that had 
one foot in the wrecking yard and the other almost there. That is so 
tacky. A race to the bottom of the resale value.

 Of course, painting or other process rather than replating might just mean that the $500-800 per bumper for quality rechroming could be put into needed bodywork, engine rebuilding, or 1000 other tasks necessary to get the car going safely, if not to a mythical "Concours-quality" appearance. The pretty stuff can come later; some folks would rather enjoy the car from the driver's seat, where it's hard to see the bumpers. ;)
