Making sure you know there are two voltage regulators in the 311.
One is up under the dash and directly regulates the gauges.
The other is in the engine bay and regulates everything else.
Does your mechanic know that?

So my mechanic says the voltage regulator is causing some of my gauges to malfunction, specifically the temp and fuel gauge. Says a new one is $180 or an after market one is $100, Seems excessive to me. Are there any other options for replacing or repairing the voltage regulator I have? Thanks.
