I had a whole series of problems with my restored front
brakes that squealed to the point of super annoyance.
I tried all the tricks you are thinking about. the
solution was the pads themselves. I was using the stock
TRF pads. They were old stock from mid 90s. I got them
in a used pats sale.
The cure and still running quiet is the slightly more
expensive "semi-metallic" pads from Moss. The are made in
australia.
