Another point...
The TR4 was a daily driver in fairly decent shape but several of the others
were near 100pt restorations. Brand-new always runs better than broken-in.

Good point (Harley)

In the order that they were ranked by the owners/judges.

1. Fiat 124 Spyder (Blk + Yellow)
2. Alpine (Yellow)
3. Alfa Dueto (Blue)
4. MGB (Red)
5. Triumph TR4A (BRG)
6. Datsun 1600 (White)

of
the subjects rides were the "best car". Strangely they couldn't figure out
why
the TR scored so low??? Similarly this time editor Gary asked a similar set
of
questions about the cars. I was there and filled out the evaluations and
had
to give the other cars better scores myself. Questions like: Starting,
Brake
feel, Ride, Comfort, etc. The survey judges the cars like consumer reports
would judge any appliance. Turns out by those measures the TR4A is a lousy
car.
