Seems to me there must've been other factors as well.  I had a friend with a
stock 124 Spyder, my relatively stock (then) TR3A just walked all over it in
every performance category : acceleration, cornering, braking, even fuel
mileage.  I suspect it's not just "old car vs new car", but evaluating
sports cars on the basis of creature comforts and whether the cup holders
work well.

As someone already said, this is exactly the sort of mistake that Consumer
Reports makes.  Last time I looked at CR, they had ranked a quiet dishwasher
that didn't clean dishes very well above a competing model that cleaned
better, but made more noise.  If I wanted peace and quiet, I'd wash them by
hand !
