Mmm, they're more beside the springs.  The SU toolkit includes a tiny wrench
for those nuts, although I usually turn them with my fingers.  Since you
should be doing this with the engine thoroughly warmed up and running, they
can get a bit warm.

Correct on both counts.  Doesn't hurt to lift up on the jet lever after each
adjustment, just in case the spring doesn't pull the jet against the nut.
