Actually you can't adjust the oil pressure if the engine is worn. But you
can check to be sure that the pressure relief valve is functioning properly
and adjust that so it doesn't open until around 70psi. If the valve is
opening early or stuck open it would not allow the oil pressure to build up
to the correct pressure. Randall also mentioned in his answer, and I agree,
that a check of the oil pressure with an external gauge would be a smart
thing to do.
