Its rotatable, so it can really be mounted at any angle. I have mine set
straight down. I have no oil cooler so I don't have to deal with the hoses
for that. I find access acceptable plus it stays full when the engine is off
regardless of check valve and you spill less when changing it.  I can also
"fill" the new one before I put it on.
