If you were real sure that you would absolutely like the finished look of 
a modern paint colour on a vintage car and if you did not feel a need at 
some level for peer approval you would not be asking this question to the 
Triumph mail list.

I strongly suspect that you would end up being unhappy with the colour 
combination.  If you go to Triumph club events or British car meets I 
think you will be even more unhappy and decide to repaint the car in a 
few years.
