<< Dear Listers,
i have just come from a local british car shop and been told
that the
rebuild of my tr6 engine will come in somewhere around $3000! OUCH! the
engine was running fine when i began the restoration and i've pulled
most of the engine apart already and i'm starting to think i should let
someone do the machining and then put it back together myself. i rebuilt
a 327 from a book many years ago so i'm not afraid, just would rather
pay someone else to do it (but not 3 grand).
is this a fair ballpark price? the shop owner is assuming
probably
replacement of the pistons/rings, cam, turning the crank, new bearings,
 etc. what say ye listers?

Sounds more like it should be well under $1000. I'd get a second opinion were
it me.
