Tom,
As with other types of "major surgery", I'd get a second opinion. I had
my Spit engine rebuilt including new high compression pistons, boring,
turning the crank, installing cam bearings, new high volume oil pump,
new timing chain and gear, regrind the cam, gaskets etc. all for
$1650.00. Two more cylinders should add no more then 50% to the cost.
That would bring a 6 cyl to $2475.

Regards,
Joe Curry
