questions

I am looking at some Triumphs that are for sale and I have a couple of 
questions:

The one 71 TR6 has a VIN that starts out KC----,  does anyone know what the K 
indicates?

Several cars have had extra wide gaps between the front fenders and the front 
portion of the bonnet.  Is this a bad omen or is this something which can be 
corrected without disturbing the paint etc?
