As suggested I called around to different jobbers and was finally able to
locate someone that could supply Hastings rings. However, my first contact
was to a reputable shop that specializes in English cars and he doesn't
recomend Hastings rings for a TR3A engine. He said the reason that he doesn't
use them is because their ring gap is too large. Has anyone else come across
this problem or observation?

He also said that if there is more than .007 space betwen the piston skirt and
cylinder wall that the engine would sound like a diesel due to piston slap.
With that in mind I will be borrowing a bore mike from work to take some very
precise measurements. The manual states that if there is some out of
roundness, the sleeves can be rotated 90 degrees to compensate for wear and
reduce piston slap. Has anyone tried this with success? If so, How much
clearance was between the piston and cylinder wall?

I am hoping that I don't have to purchase oversize pistons and rings and then
rebore the sleeves.
