I just recently purchased a 1980 TR8 convertible, 50,000 miles no rust

barn for three years. It runs well at 1500 rpm but will not idle. Needs

overpaid for it at $4000 but everything else I saw in New Jersey was in

I am about to embark on trying to fix the idle problem. I thought the
most likely cause is carb problems due to the amount of time the car was
not driven. My plan is to give the car new plugs, wires, cap, and button
along with an electronic ignition and new manifold with Holley 4 bl.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Overpaid? I don't think so. I think you got a hell of a deal (unless
the interior is completely trashed) a no-rust car that runs is worth a
lot more than $4000. I just paid $3000 for a rusty car with no interior,
and a rust free tub. In other words, a project.
If the paint is just tired you might get by with a buffing to bring back
the shine.
Congratulations. These things go like a scalded bat! And they have a
nice ride as well.
