Roger,
I too have been having a rough time with the wiring on my 1980
Spitfire (also with a Lucas amplifier module). The dpo took some
liberties with the wiring, but it has run okay for years despite
his innovations. But the coil gets 12v with the ignition on instead
of the required 6v, so I am trying to put things right. At any
rate I can tell you where the white and black/white wires from
my amplifier module were connected. The white went to coil positive
and the black/white went to coil negative. There is a separate
connection directly to the distributor (blue and red in a black
sleeve I think) with a fitted plug that cannot be mistaken for
anything else. Remember, SOMETHING is wrong on mine, but I don't
THINK it is the connections from the amp module.

Tim,
With some help from a couple of people I believe I have it. I did
have it hooked Like you have yours. I think that you could run that
White\black to the 12v side of the solenoid? I guess that is the way
that you wire some of the crane amps and it makes sense. Well now that
I think about it does that White and yellow wire have the same out put
as the positive battery connector on the top of the solenoid? If it
does a straight shot to that plug should fit on the connector that is
already there running from the alternator...
Hey if you have any questions I am almost 95% sure that the wiring
in my spit is right. I would be happy to outline my wiring for you if
you need it.

P.S. Does your Coil have a label stating "For use with External
Resistor" I do not have the drive resistor connected and I am not using
the Ballast resistor wire. Could this be part of my turn over but won't
fire problems?
