Yes the 69-73(?) models had a different cam, and triumph claimed
150Bhp from this. In 73 they softened up the cam which improved the
idle, and reduced output to ~125BHP. The compression ratio was also
higher 9.5:1 I think.

The drivetrain was the same for Europe and the US, they used the J
type overdrive in the later model years, which is supposed to be
stronger.

In the 70's I had a stage 3 tune on a PI motor, and it's output
was around 175Bhp. The only part of the drivetrain that broke was
the diff ring gear (but that may just have been a bad unit).

I to would like to convert to Fuel Injection, but I don't think I 
could ever get it through Arizona Visual Inspection.
