Brad and list-

I have considered a way to store the hardtop for my TR6 and have 2 thoughts
borrowed from the Mercedes catalogs.

The SL models have a hardtop option that closely resembles the TR6 hardtop.
The aftermarket catalogs offer a hardtop stand where the front of the top fits
to the bottom of the stand and the rear glass is at the top of the stand. I
borrowed a friends Mercedes stand and it actually works well for the TR6. The
cost of this stand is around $150.00, I think.

After examining the stand I realized for a small investment in some aluminum
strips, nuts and bolts and 4 wheels, I could build one. It looks easier than
it really is. Still working on it.

The other idea was also from the Mercedes aftermarket catalogs. They offer a
hoist (one with a motor and one not) that suspends from the ceiling of your
garage and the hardtop can be removed or fitted by a single person. I have not
tried this, but it seems that it would work for either car.

If I make any progress on the stand, I'll post it later.

Hi Brad - with several cars with hardtops, I have found the
easiest way of storing them is to build a rack hanging from
my garage rafters. My opinion of hardtops being what it is
however, given my 'druthers, I think it is preferable to let
someone else store them and put the $ received into other
more useful things. This is in the land of the frozen north
however, where LBC's get put away from the winter and the salt.
