     I guess it was just a case of "why change a good thing". I'm sure the 
     dogs wouldn't want this feature removed!

May I point out that the SPitfires use a ball joint at the top wishbone 
and a Trunion at the bottom.  So where does that fit into the scenario. 
I choose th think that Triumph used Trunions for the same reasons dogs 
lick their genitals......Because they can!.
