Dear all,

I'm in the process of trying to get a gearbox/A-type OD refurbished and ready
to put in my '71 TR6.

I'm trying to separate the OD from the gearbox. All the studs are out or have
had the nuts taken off, (except for the 2 nuts on the long studs). What is
supposed to happen, as I understand it (which I think I do), is that the spring
pressure will push the two apart as you unthread the nuts. It only moves about
1/8 inch before hanging up (there is definite movement). I thought it was the
gasket sticking at first - it isn't. There's something very 'mechanical' about
it. It's not tilting over and jamming on one of the other studs either, as far
as I can tell. It seems more like something inside isn't releasing properly -
the OD is holding onto the mainshaft. I've tried bolting a piece of wood
through the drive flange and pulling up, but it doesn't shift.

Is there something that could have gone wrong inside to cause this to happen?
Or anything else I should have done? As always, all help is greatly
appreciated...

Pete
