Pertronix "Ignitor", real simple, solid, eliminates most of the wobble
problems with the plate, shaft, and bushings. I plug the retard at the
car fitting with a 1" piece of rubber tube and rod/screw the size of the
fitting. This allows a concours look while stopping the useless 14 degrees
of timing retard at idle and between gear changes. It seems the wear on
the plate pivot point, due to the retard gadget and years of wear, causes
a variable dwell/timing. You can set it static or at idle, doesn't make
any difference as it varies with RPM and vacuum, its rarely correct...

With this plugged, I set the timing to 12 BTDC. If it doesn't run correctly
this way, you've got other problems... and don't feel alone...

I've got 20 TR6 Ignitors ($60+$3 shipping), electric ignition conversion
with no external box. The GT6 and Spit prototypes are still in test.
(this is the correct kit, LU-166C, not the one the rest of the world sells)

Sorry, just got the TRF newletter, guess the rest of the world's is
already "brown'ed" by now.

One brag about the newletter, my Topez (no, not Orange! its a pleasant
bright yellow-red colour...) TR6 is 3rd from the top on page 2, again
with the bonnet raised in the TRF summer party picture (people admiring
the A/C unit). I'm on the left (blue jeans) in the Coventry Inn picture.
