Michael, the GT6 Mk.3 gearbox may be found with either KE or KF 
prefixes; either way, sounds like yours is a GT6 Mk.3, probably 1971 
vintage. 

As others have mentioned, it's most likely the reverse switch that would 
have taken those two wires. It depends on the color codes, however (and 
I don't remember offhand what they are); it could also be a seat belt 
reminder light/buzzer connection. Usually, one switch could be found in 
the top cover of the gearbox itself, and the other mounted on a bracket 
that worked with a "cammed" extension of the shifter rail.
