Doing some research in the Haynes and Bentley manuals, it seems that my
Spit's thrust washers are in need of repairing. I do hear a knocking
sound when revving up the engine, and it looks like I'm gonna have to
get down there & replace it.

To my knowledge, the crankshaft has not been reground, but should I buy
both sizes of thrust washers just to be sure?

Is this repair possible without taking out the engine? Looking from the
photos and such, I'm not entirely sure. Can you rotate it in there?
