front brake bleed

I guess I should have mentioned,
 I have removed the nipple - it is clear.
I spread the threads of the nipple with grease, no air getting in there.
Pressing the pedal seems to operate only the rear brakes, no fluid comes out
the front bleeders.

I suspect something wrong with my assembly of the tipping  valve in the MC.
The various manuals show exploded diagrams, and I think I followed them
correctly.

Can't think what else.  Even seized pistons in the calipers would allow fluid
to be sucked out, or pressured out, right?
