Sorry, but I disagree. Where do you expect the air to go? If it goes away
altogether there must be a leak somewhere, probably at the gauge. There is
no designed method to purge it of air. If you feel you must, you could live
dangerously and loosen the gauge connection a little and briefly run the
engine until oil creeps out then tighten the gauge connection. But you'd
still have a little air in the gauge. You're not expected to get the air
out though. In other words, don't worry about it.
