The 74 Spitfire will not "bolt in".  I should have clarified that for All
Spitfire trannys. . .
 "the input shaft is not the same length, and the number of splines and the
diameter are not the same.  Add also, that the ratios and laygear material
are not really suitable for the GT6's increased torque.  And you can't just
use a Spitfire tranny complete with bellhousing, because the starters (and
the clutch slave cylinders) are on opposite sides for these engines (and
possibly the bolt pattern for the engine plate/bellhousing is different),
as well as the clutches themselves are different sizes."
So the short answer is that NO Spitfire tranny can *effectively* be used in
ANY GT6 - They are two different, similar looking, but actually externally
different animals -
